Professor Alistair Rieu-Clarke gives a lecture entitled “A legal perspective on transboundary hydropower developments – the case of the Xayaburi Project on the Mekong River”.
Alistair Rieu-Clarke is a Professor of Law at Northumbria Law School, Newcastle, United Kingdom. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Masters in Natural Resources Law and Policy (with distinction), and a Doctor of Philosophy. Through over 20 years of experience in research, teaching, training and consultancy related to international law, sustainable development and transboundary water issues, he has sought to deepen knowledge and understanding of the role of international law in safeguarding the equitable and sustainable management of transboundary rivers, lakes and aquifers. Alistair works in close collaboration with experts from both physical and social sciences; and from academia, civil society, government, and the private sector.
