18 Nov Conference: People on the Move, Joensuu

There could not be a more poignant time for academics to share their research on migration, urbanization, Finnish-Russian relations and the mobility of people across national and domestic borders. The aim of the People on the Move Conference, which will be held on November 18, 2017 at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF, Joensuu), is to facilitate collaboration by Finnish and Russian academics and to engage both academic and professional audiences in debating these topics that are currently dominating news agendas. The event is free and open to anyone interested.

The event will be chaired by Dr. Tiina Sotkasiira, Researcher at the Department of Social Sciences at UEF. It will include several presentations by scholars, including Päivi Armila, Laura Assmuth, Olga Davydova-Minguet, Johanna Hiitola, Olga Tkach, Minna Piipponen, Pirjo Pöllänen, Guzel Sabirova and Joni Virkkunen, and conclude with the exchange of ideas about the future cooperation in the field.
