Date and venue: 30 April at 13.00 (1 pm), Mediteknia Auditorium
For over a decade, the Uncle John Blues Band entertained staff and students of the University with a concert on the afternoon of 30th April (May Day Eve). After a hiatus of several years, we have reformed the band under the name of Regenerates and will hold one last concert this year. We will be joined by the Kuopio Gospel Project, a choir of about twenty, mostly Erasmus, students studying in the university. This will be the choir's first public performance. In addition, the band will welcome many special guests to accompany them through their repertoire of hits.
The entire performance will be broadcast live over the internet so that friends and colleagues of the band and choir around the world can experience this unique event. You will find the live concert online at tcs.uef.fi under the name "vappukonsertti".
The official reason why we decided to revive the May Day Eve concert tradition is that the band's vocalist, Ewen MacDonald, will be retiring from the university in a few months after over 40 years of service. The real reason is that during these times of austerity and cutbacks, it is good to have a couple of hours of fun and enjoyment – and what better time than May Day Eve!
The concert is open to all free of charge. Welcome!
