Welcome to the next 2014 seminar of the Seminar Series in Molecular Medicine on Monday 3.2.2014 at 13.00 in L22 (Snellmania).
Our guest is Prof. Charlotte Ling, principle investigator of the Epigenetics and Diabetes Unit at Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC), Sweden.
The title of Prof. Ling's talk will be "Impact of epigenetic modifications on the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes".
Seminar is hosted by Academy professor Markku Laakso.
Charlotte Ling, PhD is a lecturer at Lund University and a principle investigator of the Epigenetics and Diabetes Unit at Lund University Diabetes Centre (LUDC), Sweden. She obtained her PhD in Endocrinology at University of Gothenburg, Sweden in 2002. After a postdoc at Lund University, where she studied genetics of type 2 diabetes, she dedicated her research to the study of epigenetic mechanisms causing type 2 diabetes and metabolic disease. Her research group has contributed to novel epigenetic discoveries in type 2 diabetes. The group has identified epigenetic modifications in patients with type 2 diabetes and they have shown that genetic and environmental risk factors alter the epigenetic pattern in human pancreatic islets, skeletal muscle and adipose tissue.
The seminar is open to all. Welcome!
