University of Eastern Finland succeeded well in rankings of young universities

In the recently published rankings of the world’s top universities under 50 years of age, the University of Eastern Finland was ranked 38th by QS World University Rankings and 54th by the Times Higher Education.

This was the first time QS and THE published a list of the world’s leading universities under 50 years of age. The 100 Under 50 by THE and the Top 50 Under 50 by QS complement the annual rankings of the world’s leading universities. The UEF was the only Finnish university on the lists ranking the world’s young universities.

In the QS Top 50 Under 50 by the international Quacqarelli Symonds enterprise, institutions are ranked based on academic reputation, employer reputation, citations per faculty, student/faculty ratio, international student ratio and international faculty ratio.

In the 2011 QS World University Rankings of the world’s top 500 universities, the University of Eastern Finland was ranked 305th. The criteria were the same as in the QS Top 50 Under 50.

In the 2011 THE World University Rankings, the University of Eastern Finland was placed among the leading 350 universities in the world. The THE 100 Under 50 uses the same range of performance indicators to rate institutions as the THE World University Rankings published every autumn. There are a total of 13 performance indicators and, in addition to research, weighting is placed on teaching and international activities.
